LOGO Ideation

I started by working with the idea of the spirograph in thinking about the logo: many loops equaling one design. These ideation's were formed before I worked out my manifesto and before I met with Todd, my mentor for this project.

After meeting with Todd I nailed down some solid ideas of what areas of my concept I needed to focus on.

1) The first was the aesthetic and how it would relate to the concept but still be grounded in the aesthetic preferences of my target demographic. At this point I stopped thinking that my target was "everyone" and decided to nail things down to "everyone; within my target demographic." I also had to think about what the best aesthetic would be to communicate the concept.

2) The next thing I had to think about was how to demonstrate the application of this product. How is the concept acted out? What are the steps offered to the viewer to carryout the concept and engage in the Manifesto/Value set.

3) The next part I had to think about is the call to action. What drives people to act and participate?

After talking to Todd, I also realized that perhaps I needed to go more general than the spiro logo. We talked about what "blank" and "general" look like. We talked about how I should create emptyness in my my tags and branding. One thing that we talked about was creating empty EPS logo files with appended graphic standard application guidelines like minimum heights and clear space.

I moved on to decide that having empty files was inviting users to draw/write in thier own logos and logotypes. This is opposite from the blankness/blandness I was trying to create. So, I decided that perhaps the brand mark had to be completely black. Black emptiness filling the void.
